A Knights Tail
In this blog we were asked to watch a movie, I have chosen to watch a knights tail. I really enjoyed this movie because i feel like it showed a lot of things that happened in the medieval era but also had a little modernized time periods. One thing that i thought was very accurate from what we have talked about in class was the jousting. Not just how people joust but why they do as well. In this movie William (who is the main character) ends up jousting for the love of a beautiful women. I remember you telling us in class that a lot of the time knights would compete to kind of show off to the ladies and win their affection. Their also is the "bad guy" of the movie and his name is Adimar (if that is how you spell it) and these two kind of joust for the love of this lady.
Now i feel that part of the courtship isn't very accurate. From my understanding courting a girl is a very formal thing back in the medieval era. I also get the impressing that in the courting process men and women don't really talk that much. So naturally they wouldn't have in depth conversations about their lives or feelings or whatever. As i was watching this movie it definitely shows William courting this girl in a very unformal manner, with a bit of formal thrown in because of the times. For example when he first meets her, she kind of denies him, but it is in a very modern flirty way. Its kind of hard to explain but it ends up that they are in a Catholic church and she kind of shows sass or back talks to the priest.
So overall i loved the movie ha i know thats not part of the assignment to say if we liked it or not, but i thought it was grand :)
